Marine Sensor Systems group was established in September 2005 to cater the mandate of NIOT to develop and demonstrate technologies for oceans. Most of the underwater systems are acoustic based systems with underwater electronics. Needs of NIOT are unique and all the requirements cannot be met with the facilities available at NIOT. The design, development and integration of electronic systems for underwater applications pose many insurmountable problems. Facilities to qualify electronics under the conditions of underwater operation are being set up like, EMI/EMC analyzer, Leak detector, Environment testing systems and Shock & Vibration testing etc, where NIOT has to depend on the out side agencies. But all these facilities are not available at one place. Hence a single stop solution for all the electronic needs of NIOT under one umbrella is being set up for speedy and successful implementation of the project.
